After a decade as a Senior Developer, I moved into leadership because I became more interested in how teams work than how compilers work. I believe that the best engineering happens when people have the clarity to move fast and the space to do their best work.
What I do at DeepL
I lead the teams making sure our AI is everywhere our users are. We focus on connectivity, extensibility, and breaking down the walls between platforms to bring DeepL into every workflow.
How I lead
- Multiplier Mindset: My job is to clear the path, not to hold the map. I measure my success by the growth and output of the engineers I lead.
- Clarity & Context: I believe engineers do their best work when they understand the "why" behind the "what." I focus on bridging the gap between product strategy and technical execution.
- Process for Flow: I hate bureaucracy. I love lean systems that help us ship high-quality work faster with less friction.
I’ve traded my IDE for technical strategy and 1:1s, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I still love the craft, but I love seeing my team grow into leaders even more.
